Last weekend, July 8-10, NYBA Blues 11U Select team participated in the 2022 GNBA Tournament in Niagara Falls.

With the sun shining, the team had a great battle against Barrie for Game 1. After being down by four, the team rallied back to win 7-5 and then rushed back to the hotel for a celebratory team pool party!

On Saturday morning, Game 2 was against Clarington. With a very focused team and donuts for breakfast, the team had another win with a score of 15-9. With two wins under their belts, the team was hyped for Game 3. A relatively easy 17-4 win over Lucan guaranteed a semi-final game on Sunday.

Saturday closed with some team bonding activities including go-carting at Niagara Go-Karts, swimming at the hotel pool again, and a team dinner.

Sunday’s semi-final match, saw the boys defeat the wild-card team Barrie again with a score of 11-1. The win was due to some amazing pitching, hot bats and key defensive plays.

Off to the finals!!

The championship game, NY Blues face the Mississauga Twins. It was a back and forth battle throughout the entire game.

The NYBA Blues started with two runs • Mississauga scored four • The Blues returned with four more runs • only to have Mississauga catch up with two more runs! At the top of the seventh with a 11-9 lead, the Blues scored two runs heading into the bottom of the 7th!

With some amazing defensive plays and clutch pitching, Mississauga were limited to only one run with a final strike out.

NYBA Blues U11 Select won the championship finals with a 13-10 victory!

It was all smiles when they received their trophies; to the Gatorade shower for the winning pitcher and water shower for the head coach Donald. The team celebrated the final win at a local ice-cream shop.

North York Baseball Association has been providing House League and Rep/Select levels of play for boys and girls 6-18. Games are played at Bond Park in North York. NYBA is celebrating 50 years of serving the community!
