Competitive baseball in Toronto is organized by the Toronto Baseball Association under the umbrella of the Ontario Baseball Association.
North York Baseball Association offers three different competitive levels.
HPP & ELITE BASEBALL:
North York elite teams play in the Elite Baseball League of Ontario (EBLO - Elite Baseball League of Ontario ). The EBLO is made up of top players and teams from across the province beginning at the 15u age-group. It is a highly-competitive level of baseball and is a natural progression for players in the AAA baseball stream. These players are often interested in pursuing baseball opportunities at the university or college level.
Effective 2025, Ontario Baseball Sanctioned High Performance Programs for players under 15.
In the 2025/2026 season NYBA will roster the following HPP and Elite teams: 14UAAAA; 15U, 16U, 17U and 18U Elite.
REP BASEBALL:
This level of competitive play is suited for players looking for a higher level of baseball instruction and competition. There are three different levels, A, AA and AAA – AAA being for the more experienced players.
Rep players play and practice weekly in the summer and train once or twice - depending on the coach in the winter. There are additional tournaments – both home and away agreed upon by the team. Travel is in Southern Ontario. Championships tournaments and games are held in August.
Rep tryouts are held the first two weeks of September, after Labour Day weekend. The tryout schedule is posted in August.
SELECT BASEBALL:
Select is the perfect place for baseball beginners who want a higher level of commitment than house league but are not ready for the full commitment required at the rep level. Games are held weekly but are not scheduled on long weekends. All select teams compete for the TBA East Championship usually held in mid-August and the winner has the option to compete for the Select Ontario Championship usually held Labour Day weekend. Select teams training in the winter is typically determined on a team-by-team basis but generally starts on a weekly schedule in early January.
Select tryouts, if available, will held at the end of September.
Tryouts:
Tryouts for Rep and Select teams begin in September. If your player is interested if playing Rep or Select, we invite you to visit our FAQ page for more information.
Games/Practices:
A standard season runs from approximately April to the end of August with approximately 20 regular-season league games, plus tournaments and playoffs.
Home games are played at Bond Park, in North York while away games can be played either within the city or in other cities in Southern Ontario or within the GTA for Select Teams. Most games (one, sometimes two games) are held on the weekends.
Player Fees:
All competitive teams share in the overall administrative expenses of the North York Baseball Association. Team fees also include full uniform; umpires and any additional expenses the team incurs such as private coaching.
Every player pays a deposit when signed and the balance of the fees are pro-rated in installments during the year. Players fees for rep, elite and select baseball are non-refundable.
Coaching Staff:
All NYBA coaches are certified through the Ontario Baseball Association. They, along with their assistants and management staff are committed to developing baseball skills and promoting team fair play among players and parents. Every coaching staff focuses on the physical and emotional well being of every player, and promoting a healthy playing lifestyle.
It is the goal of every rep/select team to be competitive in every game played. Players are continually evaluated in their baseball skills, knowledge and enthusiasm to make every reasonable effort to ensure every player has a meaningful role in accomplishing the goal.
The NYBA executive maintains an open line of communication with both players and parents and makes every effort to accommodate the concerns of players and parent members regarding these issues and matters.
The North York Baseball Association is always looking for parent coaches for its Rep/Select program. If interested please reach out to Rick Kotick rick.kotick@gmail.com
