North York umpire Ahyan Anas won the 2025 Ontario Baseball Association Jr. Umpire of the year award.

This was Ahyan’s first year umpiring at the rep level. After two years umpiring House League at North York Baseball, Ahyan launched his rep umpire career with two associations within the Toronto Baseball Association.

It’s no surprise that Ahyan is an award-winning umpire, his two older brothers Aabid and Imad also umpire.

Aabid, a Level 3 umpire, umps for 6 associations across the GTA. Imad, also a Level 3 umps for three associations. This year, Imad has taken up additional responsibilities as head coach for the North York Blues 14UAA team.

11UAAA coach Neil Blewett was so excited about Ahyan’s award, in an email to the entire NYBA Blues coaching staff he said:

This is awesome and well deserved. He umped a bunch of our games and handled each game professionally and was super respectful to both teams.
His calls were very fair, although I wish a few more went our way – lol.
