NYBA 10U Select – Terrific Success at Vaughan Tournament
The NYBA Blues 10U Select team had an amazing run at the Vaughan tournament held July 8-10th.
For many players, it’s their first year playing competitive baseball. Parents and coaches had no expectations of making the playoffs, especially playing against older players in the 11U loop.
At the Vaughan tournament many players and coaching staff were away leaving only the minimum players required to field a team plus a house league call-up who came out and played in every game.
Players started the tournament with a win against the Markham Mariners (11-9) followed by a tie with the Milton Mets (12-12) and another win against the Valley East Voyageurs (16-7).
The NYBA Blues 10U Select team fought hard throughout the tournament, especially against Milton. Down 12-4 the boys came back to tie the game with 8 runs in the last inning!
It was an epic comeback!
The team finished first in the group and still had their ace available for the Sunday games.
Although the team’s journey ended at the quarterfinals, players have proven themselves at such a young age that they can certainly compete with the older boys and play some solid baseball!
The coaching staff and parents are extremely proud of how much the players have improved and how strong the team camaraderie is between this group of boys. The team is looking looking forward to the rest of the season and even more success in the future!
Go Blues!!!
